SALE AT BURNSIDE FAT CATTLE PRICES RISE [Per Pres? Association. ] DUNEDIN, Nov. 22. Owing to the summer show being held this week the usual Burnside stock sale was held to-day. The principal feature was the high prices realised for fat cattle. The market showed a rise of about 15s a heari; above last week’s high rates, though the quality was not equal to that of last sale, the yarding consisting chiefly of prime and medium bullocks, with a fair proportion of good cows and heifers. Eat cattle.—2ol were penned. Extra prime heavy bullocks made £l7 10s to £2O 12s 6d, prime heavy £l4 15s to £l7, lighter and unfinished sorts £l2 10s to £l4, extra prime heifers to £l4, prime cows and heifers £9 10s to £l3. Prime ox beef sold on basis 465, light 42s 66, cows and heifers 30s to 40s per lOOlbs. Store cattle.—An average entry, consisting of cows anci heifers of all grades with an odd pen of young steers. The sale was firm for all grades at last week’s rates, gooi'l fleshy cows selling well. Fat Sheep.—The yarding was smaller than usual, .1239 sheep being forward. The entry consisted of prime and medium wethers, with a fair proportion of ewes. Half the entry was shorn. The sale opened firm at last wreck’s rates and continued firm throughout, harii-ening if anything, for extra prime wethers. Extra prime woolly heavywethers made 53s to 58s 3d;, prime heavy 44s 6d to 525, medium 37s to 435, light 33s 6d to 36s 6d, extra prime woolly heavy ewes 44s to 49s (>id, prime 36s to 435, light 30s to 355, extra prime shorn wethers 37s 6d to 42s 9d, prime 32s 6d to 36s 6d, prime shorn ewes 27s to 31s 3d. Prime wethers in wool sold?on a basis of 74d to 84d and prime shorn wethers 6d to 61dFat lambs.—l 32 were penned, showing a wide range of quality. Prices opened firm at last week’s rates for prime lambs but medium and light sorts were quiet. The entry was too big for requirements and prices eased considerably, showing a depreciation of Is 65 to 2s. Prime lamb sold on the basis of $d to Is per lb. Storo pigs.—The sale for store pigs were keen in places, according to breeding and quality and prices were quite up to last week’s quotations.
