Although no advice has been received, it is possible that the vessel will have sulphur for other New Zealand ports. S2ITISH MOTOR-SHIPS. A question of great interest to shipbuilders and shipowners has been raised by Lord Inchape. chairman of the Peninsular and Oriental and the British India Steam Navigation Companies. Lord Inchape does not think that because British owners are not ordering motor-ships so largely as others the British merctantile marine is falling behind in efficiency or in its up-to-date character. His contention is that no good purpose is to be served by substituting motor-ships for steamers unless it can be shown very rlearly that the latter are so much out-of-date as to b* unprofitable =on service. SITHONIA HERE. The tramp steamer Sithopia arrived in the Wanganui roadstead yesterday with a cargo of sulphur from Galveston, Texas. The Sithonia left Galveston on September 24 and cleared Panama early last month. Good weather was experienced the other side of the canal, and the vessel the tropics before the south-east trades. The sea was calm, with the wind moderate, so that the vessel was well up to time. Nearing New Zealand, however, she encountered ; ’ severe cyclone amt tor forty-eight hours did 1 not make more than three knots. This delayed the vessel’s arrival by nearly two days. The Sithonia was built in 1901 for the Hamburg Amerika Line, and for many years was engaged in the Eastern trade. After the war, however. Germany was forced to hand f her over to the British in accordance with their reparation agreements. She is now ; controlled by H. M. Thompson, of London, I and has been engaged since 1920 as a tramp. Captain S. Anderson is in command, and i the following are his officers Chief ,Mr J. 5. Stracnau; second. Mr J.
