IMMIGRATION
SCHEME FOR GIRLS 1 CONFERENCE WITH MRS. AMERY Wliile in Wanganui Mrs L. C. M. S. Amery, wife of the Secretary of State for the Dominions, will be met by the Alayoress and tho Women’s Division of the Farmers’ Union, and a proposal to establish a system of group immigration will be discussed. Wanganui members of tho Division are strongly of the opinion that there is a field in New Zealand for the middle-class girl whom the war has left high and dry in the English community, and they believe that a certain number can be placed in the various districts for a specified term, with provision made by the Government for a free passage back to England should they be desirous of returning when the period agreed on has expired. The conference will take place in the Sarjcant Gallery on Friday.
