UNION BOAT CLUB EXCITING DEAD-HEAT IN CLUB FOURS. Last evening the second series of races in the Union Boat Club’s fours, was held, and the contest between C. Aitkin and R. Edwards proved to be one of the most thrilling club races seen for many seasons. Both crews hopped away smartly, Aitkin establishing a canvas lead which he held to just on the finishing line, where Edwards put in a splendid spurt to make a dcad-heat of it. The re-row between F. Wilspn and E. Gullery resulted in a win for the former crew by a margin of two lengths. Edwards’ crew will again measure blades with Aitkin’s men this evening, and another stirring fininsh is predicted. ARAMOHO CLUB MITCHELL SHIELD CONTESTS In the contests held by the Aramoho Boat Club last evening for the Mitchell Shield heats Abercrombie beat Gurr and Mill beat D. Holmes, both events being good exhibitions of rowing and attracting a great deal of interest from a good crowd of spectators. The events fixed for this evening are as follows: R. Coxon rows Mill. Abercrombie rows Haywood*.
