OHAKUNE

CRICKET. [ Special " Chronicle ” Service ] A match between Ohakune and Ohakune Junction B teams was played over the week-end at Ohakune in line weather, Ohakune proving the victors by an innings and 23 runs. Thurlow and Woodward were the top scorers in batting for the Ohakune team, Woodward scoring 66 and Thurlow 40 runs. The bowling experts for this dub were Smith, who took five wickets for 11 runs, and North, who took six wickets for 13 runs. The principal batting scorers for the Junction B team were Brown with 41 not out and Hayes 20. Peek was the best bowler in this team with five wickets for 35 runs. The match caused great interest and a good exhibition of the game was given by both teams. OHAKUNE TENNIS CLUB The Ohakune Tennis Club is receiving every supoprt from its members and the attendance at the courts is well maintained. There were 40 members playing over the week-end and some exciting games were played. Visitors were present from Pokaka and other districts and they had an enjoyable time. It is very encouraging to note that the new members are making steady progress and are taking a keen interest in the game. Amongst them are some very promising players. The club has gained great popularity and it becomes more evident that serious consideration will have to be given to the establishing of at least one new court before next season. The ladies supplied a very enjoyable afternoon tea which was greatly appreciated. OHAKUNE BOWLING CLUB There was a good attendance on the green over the week-end and some very Interesting games were played. The Illingworth Ferns were again competed for but the holders were able to retain the honours. The game resulted as follows: Fergusson, Eaton 27 v. List, Mahoney 13. The Colts Singles games resulted as follows: Davis 14 v. Peck 20; Davis 19 v. Forster 8; Dance 14 v. Davis 12.
