Two men were shot dead during election frays in Kentucky, and the homes of negroes were dynamited in Ohio. In to-day's balloting early returns show that Mississippi, which is traditionally Democratic, has elected ail Democratic State officials, headed by Mr Theodore G. Bilbo as Governor. Mr Slack, aligned with the Ku Klux Kian minority of Indians and the Democratic party of Indiano, was elected Mayor of Indianapolis, succeeding Mr DuvaLL New York State elected a Republican Assembly with, a majority of 30 seats. Concord (New Hampshire) re-elected its male Mayor, defeating a lady aspirant for this office. Philadelphia elected a Republican .city administration and Pennsylvania and New York each chose Republicans to fill vacancies in the Federal House of Representatives. Ohio defeated a proposal urged by the Anti-Saloon League to restore the fee system for justices trying liquor cases. Salt Lake City (Utah) elected a complete Republican city administration. New York City failed to re-elect its two Socialist judges, and all Socialists running for office in the State were defeated. The majority of Mayors elected are Republican. New Jersey re-elected a Republican. Assembly. The city of Reading (Pennsylvania) elected a complete Socialist city administration, as a popular protest against the extravagance of the previous administration.

Detroit elected Mr Smith as Mayor. He has declared that he intends to make no effort to enforce the nrohibition laws.
