HORSEMAN INJURED

SLIGHT CONCUSSION INCIDENT AT SHOW-GROUNDS Admitted to Atholbank Hospital yesterday afternoon suffering from slight concussion as a result of a fall in one of the ring events at the Wanganui Agricultural Association’s show, Mr F. Jones, of Okoia, was last night reported to have improved in condition. Mr Jones was riding his horse, Kaione, in the maiden leaping competition, and the animal, on approaching the initial obstacle, refused -to jump. Taken back for another attempt, Mr Jones’ mount attempted to clear tho hurdle but failed and crashed to the ground, throwing the rider heavily. Bystanders seised tne horse and dragged the unconscious man away from the struggling animal, but not before Mr Jones had received a couple of I severe kicks, one of which severely • bruised his left arm, though it is believed no bones are broken.

Medical attention was forthcoming, and the sufferer, who had regained consciousness but was still very much dazed, was removed to Atholbank Hospital.
