ASSOCIATION BUSINESS MONTHLY MEETING OF WANGANUI BODY The monthly meeting of the executive of the Wanganui Automobile Association was held last night there being present: Dr. E. Porritt (chairman). Messrs J. R. Franklin, A. Robinson, G. V. Pearce, 8. G- Whittali, T. H. Rico and F. J. Hill (secretary). The secretary reported that parking stand signs had been erected (during the month at various localities in the city. A letter &as received from the City Council in connection with the suggestion that a Pearson signal should be erected at a city level crossing. The Association is to write to tho City Council and the Railway Department stating that it is the latter body’s duty, in the Association’s opinion to provide a signal at one or more of the dangerous crossings in the city. A sub-committee, it was resolved, will wait on the Tramways Committee of the City Council at a date to be arranged to discuss matters in connection with stopping places of buses. The chairman reported on the decision recently made by Parliament to have work on the Farapara Road completed. Members expressed satisfaction at the resolution to complete operations on. the highway in question. The North Island Motor Union, it was reported by the secretary, will confer with the Main Highways Board stressing the need for further work on the'Waiouru-Hihitahi Road, as was recently advised by the Wanganui Association.

In connection with the methods or cyclists at intersections, the city inspector wrote stating that it was expected that cyclists would quickly become accustomed to traffic direction. The letter intimated that prosecutions would result from disregand of ' the rules.

With reference to an accident in October 4it the Taupo Quay crossing, the District Railway Traffic Manager wrote pointing out that arrangements were now in hand to provide a special signalling lamp for use at crossings protected by manual signals. The lamp I would show green to the train and red [to the traffic.

Accounts passed for payment totalled £B3 8s 4d.
