FOR PEACE
GERMANS’ FOLLY Britain is No Obstacle to Their Security GERMANY SHOULD SUPPORT THE EMPIRE (By Telegraph—Per Press Assn.—Copyrirht.) (A. & N.Z.) LONDON, Nov. 6. Dr. Emil Ludwig, an eminent German publicist, in an article published in the Observer, entitled, “Armistice Week Thoughts,” appeals to Britain to lead in the construction of a peace pyramid based on the triangle resting in London, Paris and Berlin. He urges the security of the Rhine by mutual control. It is probable that a closer international friendship of workers and the cessation of colonial competition would compel the formation of this, the Locarno pact being merely an outline of the sketch. If Britain had assumed earlier responsibility in Europe it would have prevented war. He condemns the folly of Germans imagining that the British Empire is an obstacle to their security, and desiring its downfall, believing that it has already commenced. Germans, ought to support the Empire because it is a factor for peace. He dentes tnat tne Germans, except the Nationalists, want colonies. Others believe that with the coming emancipation of the coloured races, the possession of colonies would be like buying tickets to see the fifth act.
