A SUNDAY JAUNT
MOTORIST’S TROUBLE DEMONSTRATION CABS AND % THEIR USE A ride given to two persons in a demonstration car on a Sunday by Horace Harman was responsible for the latter’s appearance yestenday in tTIO Wanganui Magistrate’s Court. Defendant was charged with plying his trade on a Sunday. It was explained by Mr A. D. Brodie that defendant was driving in the demonstration car and had given the two people a ride. It was contended that defendant came within the exemptions in regard to Sunday working connected with motor garages. Constable Christmas stated that defendant had told him he was testing a new car with a demonstration number. It was claimed by the police that the car was neither public nor private, but was one held for sale and could not be used other than for demonstration purposes. Defendant had stated that he was testing out a car. Decision was reserved l by the Magistrate (Mr J. S. Barton).
