LESS UNEMPLOYMENT
CONDITIONS IN BRITAIN STILL OVER THE MILLION MARK. (By Radio). RUGBY, Nov. 3. The unemployment figures of recent weeks have been of a hopeful character. Seasonal increase of unemployment is customary in early autumn. Such an increase began this year, but was almost immediately arrested. Minor fluctuations occurred in October, but the latest return, bearing the date October 24, is 1,074,000, which is below the level of the August and September figures, which were respectively 1,076,000 and 1,075,000.
Comparisons with last year are valueless, because of the disturbance of industry, for which the stoppage of coal mines was responsible. Two years ago the level of unemployment was much higher and the seasonal increase for 1924 was marked in August and September.
