MUNICIPAL THEATBE Paramount’s junior stars prove an effective combination in providing bright entertainment in “ Soiled Stockings, ’ ’ the main feature at the Opera House to-day, to-night and Monday night. Bi chard Bosson directed TTiis new film, which contains unique features in a rapidly-moving story. Featured players arc James HaJl, Louise Brooks, Bichard Arlen, Nancy Phillips, Ernest Torrence, El Brendel and ' Chance Ward. James Hall’s rise in the past, year has been nothing short of amazing. He played in Bebe Daniels’ last three pictures —‘ f The Campus Flirt,” * ‘Stranded in Paris” and “ Senorila. ” Hall also scored in “Hotel Imperial,” “Love’s Greatest Mistake” and ** Bitzy.” Louise Brooks is a favourite wherever she appears. This brunette appeared in “The American Venus,” “A Social Celebrity,” “It’s the Old Army Game,” “The Show-Off,” “Love /’Em and Leave ’Em,” an»d “Evening Clothes.■ ” Paramount’s latest “youth picture’concerns itself with two brothers who go to college and fall in love with tire same girt A peculiar change takes place. The serious youth becomes a philanderer while his jazzy brother gradually discovers that his life has been a series of eccors and he determines to change his ways. What happens on the night preceding the annual boat race will have to be seen as it’s much too exciting to record on paper. Hall is the philandering, gambling, flirting collegian who gets in and out of scrapes with gay abandon. Arlen is his sturdier, quieter brother whose ambition is to shine in college athletics. Louise Brooks ’ brunette beauty fits into the surroundings so perfectly one can’t help sympathising with any youngster who idolises her. Nancy Phillips, a vibrant young blonde, and a new-comer to the screen, gives an defective portrayal as a peppy sister. Beserves are at H. I. Jones and Son’s until noon, then at the theatre.
