WEEK-END TRIPPERS
SUNDAY ON THE RIVER EXCURSIONISTS FROM WELLINGTON Week-end excursionists from Wellington will explore the lower reaches of the Wanganui River this summer, it being the intention of the Railway Department to run special trains from Wellington, allowing the visitors a full day for the trip up-river. The first of these excursions will be conducted this coming week-end, the Department having taxen the initiative in the matter and having even gone the length of arranging hotel accommodation in Wanganui. It is anticipated that the party will comprise about 300 persons. The itinerary is an attractive one. The special train will leave Wellington at 1 p.m. on Saturday, arriving at Wanganui at 6.15 p.m., the night being spent in Wanganui. The next day Hatrick and Co. will run a special boat up the river as far as Parakino Pa, and probably further. The return train for Wellington will leave Wanganui at 5.45 pan. The trip will not be an expensive one, as the railway fare has been reduced by half and the charge for the river steamer includes luncheon and afternoon tea on board.
