“FREE LOVE"
BISHOP HITS OUT EASY PARIS DIVORCE • LONDON, Aug. 9. Dr. William Manning, Bishop of New York, in a sermon at the American church, says the Paris correspondent of th© Daily News, created a sensation by a scathing attack on the Paris divorce system. He declared that divorces could be granted under French law on grounds which d*id not hold good in America. This tempted rich Americans to cross the Atlantic to take advantage of the French system. “Such divorces,” said Dr. Manning, “make a mockery of marriage, and are a shame and a dishonour to France, just as the increasing flood of divorces in America is a dishonour to his country. Paris divorces for Americans, he declared, were seandolous and shameful. He vigorously condemned* trial marriage as nothing but a perfectly brazen proposal to sanction prostitution and legalise free love, having its headquarters in Russia, whose avowed purpose was to destroy morality and religion.
