Mrs L. M. Davis acted as umpire. CASTLECLIFF LADIES’ CLUB. The Castlecliff Ladies’ Miniature Rifle Club fired matches in the Junior Competition on the Castlecliff range on Monday evening, when the following scores were recorded:—

CLAY BIRD CHAMPIONSHIP NAPIER COMPETITION (Per Press Association.) NAPIER, Juno 18. The North Island clay bird championship was fired on the Monte Carlo grounds yesterday. Thirty-seven competitors from all parts of the Dominion took part. Some phenomenal shooting was witnessed. Five shootists—A. Dobson, D. McLachlan, E. Groomc, Duncan Fraser ,and F. E. Joblin—had a full twenty-one breaks each and divided the prize money. In shooting off the veteran shot Duncan Fraser and E. Groomc (Hawke’s Bay) carried on until the former (dropped out at fiftyfive hits and Groomc got a break and won the largest shoot off that has ever taken place in the Dominion for clay birds championships. Duncan Fraser is one of the best known shots in the Dominion and has twice been New Zealand champion. The £25 15s clay bird handicap was fired, the prize money being divided between C. Scdjdon, Duncan Syme, G. W. Beard, G .Tait, Fraser, J. Benson, M. Pearson, J. G. D. P. North, and A. N. Turner each having fifteen breaks with five pair. A double-rise match was fired. C. Seddon and A. Dobson divided first and second with nine breaks each D. P. North being third with eight breaks.
