PARIS, June 14. Leon Daudet, who with his Royalist friends caused a scene in Paris last week, has surrendered to the police, bv whom he was wanted in connection with libelling a taxi-cab driver in whose car his son was found murdered. Daudet barricaded himself in the offices of the newspaper Action Francaisc on Saturday and defied the police. The surrender was most dramatic. A procession of motor cars drove through the police cordon and M. Chiappe, the new Prefect of Police slopped up and 'shouted, “I want to speak to Daudet,” whereupon the Royalist leader appeared on the balcony, haggard and intensely fatigned. M Chiappe said: lt Daudet, I am speaking to you as man to man. You must surrender as the blood you may spill will not bring back life to your For moments they faced each other, twhile hundreds of on-lookers burst into tears. Then Daudet replied: “Monsieur. Prefct, you have used human language. I know the forces behind me do not wish to c.ause bloodshed or causa a civil war. I surrender.”
