HOSPITAL ADMINISTRATION
Sir, —"Fair Plays” letter in yonl issue on Monday is certainly no reply to "Ratepayer’s” letter on the subject. Neither "Ratepayer” nor "Another Ratepayer” complained about the X-ray dept. This is a very necessary adjunct to our hospital and the Board are to be congratulated on taking the medical staff’s advice to get an up-to-date radiologist and the necessary apparatus and housing for this important branch of treatment, instead of senfling cases to Wellington and elsewhere. What the public are concerned about is paying, I understand, about £350 per annum for a radiographer when if the Board advertised the position, an assistant who could efficiently carry out the duties could be obtained for £lOO per annum. Such an assistant might need a little tuition at first, but with a radiologist with great qualifications, such as I understand the present radiologist possesses, there would be ample time for any necessary tuition on the subject. ANOTHER RATEPAYER June, 14.
