“A QUAGMIRE”
COUNCIL AID SOUGHT CONDITIONS IN QUICK AVENUE Quick Avenue is a well-populated* street off Somme Parade, one house of which has been dwelt in for 50 years, but the formation of the road has never been completed. Last evening a deputation waiter! upon the City Council to request that a sum bo set aside in the estimates to complete the metalling of the roaii Cr. A. E. Halligan, who introduced the deputation, considered- it was an urgent work. Vehicles found it difficult to enter and leave the street, and on one occasion, when there was a death there, it was not possible to take the hearse into the side street and the coffin had' to bo carried to Somme Parade. Mr A. Robinson head-cd tho deputation from Quick Avenue. Ho said tho street was only six chains in length, but in winter people had to struggle through a quagmire to their homes. The matter was referred to the Works Committee.
