THE COMING SESSION.
We are satisfied that, sooner or later, the Government will be forced to deal with all matters affecting labour, but we hope that they will take up the questions voluntarily, and not wait to be forced. The Prime Minister will never have a better opportunity for dealing with difficult questions than the present. Hg has behind him a large and loyal majority upon whom he can rely. He has the reputation of being courageous and he now has an opportunity to show it. His first session as Prime Minister was marred by the haste with which the legislation was hurried through to enable him to visit England. The second session of a Parliament is always spoken of as the “working” session, so a good deal is expected of Mr Coates during the next four or five months. Our hope is that he will rise to the occasion, prove his political, as he has already proved his physical, courage by grappling with thorny questions, and prove himself worthy of a long term of office as Prime Minister of a country of which we all have reason to be proud.— Eltham Argus.
