A NEW ZEALAND AIRMAN
Sir, —During the past few weeks, frequent reference has been made by cable to Lieutenant Carr, of tho Imperial Flying Force and one cable gave a brief account of tho attempted nonstop flight to India, in which attempt Lieut. Carr failed when within a little over one hundred miles of his destination. We must all agree that such a feat runs parallel in romance to the brilliant exploits of the Elizabeth-an heroes, the history of which no doubt British boys have read with avidity and absorbed with the present-day results. It should be of interest to the Wanganui people and those of the Dominion generally, to know that Lieut. Carr is a New Zealander, having been born and spent his boyhood’s days in Fielding. He is a grandson of the late Major Liddle of Levin, who fought in the Crimean War. In these great deeds of this it is gratifying to know that New Zealand is conspiciously represented. S.F.N. Juno 16.
