MUSIC FOR MILLIONS | GRAMOPHONE RECORDS IN HUGE | SUPPLY Daring .1924 22,383,000 gramophone records were made in Great Britain, according to the preliminary reports of the Third Census of Production published in the Board of Trade journal. Pianos, other than automatic pianos, numbered 94,600 during the same year, this being 15,000 more than in 1912. Imported pianos in 1924 numbered less than 16,000. Only anout 7 per cent, of the total number of pianos (including automatic pianos) manufactured in Great Britain were exported, and of the new pianos made available in the year by manufacture and importation about 10 per cent, were made abroad compared with 30 per cent in 1907. In the year 1924 there was available for each person in Great Britain: Six new pairs of stockings or hose. Two new garments of underwear, and One new pullover or cardigan, or other fancy garment. The total quantities available for consumption in the United Kingdom were: Stockings and socks, 22,735,000 dozen pairs; underwear, 7,481,000 dozen; fancy hosiery, 3,611,000 dozen. The value of the output of the hosiery trade during 1924 was nearly five times that of 1907.
