Being one of the few people who invested with success at' the Wanganui race meeting, a local-young man had spent Saturday evening in intense celebration ,and it was with the view of joining other happy friends that he set out down St. Hill Street in the direction of tho river. Liquor has peculiar effects on most mortals, and undoubtedly the young man thought so when he perceived a rainbow curving in the heavens beyond Durie Hill. Nevertheless, a rainbow at night is not of ordinary occurrence, and discounting the young man’s experience the fact that this phenomenon was observed from Wanganui on Saturday evening is worthy of record.
