SALE AT PALMERSTON NORTH. Messrs Abraham and Williams, Limited, report:—We held our monthly sale on Thursday, when wc again offered a large catalogue of all clssses to a full attendance of buyers. Competition was very spirited and we have to report a total clearance under the hammer. Wool: Oddments were keenly sought after at Id to id better than last sale. There was a strong demand for all grades of hides at an advance of id to 2d. Calfskins and yearlings were id to Id beter. Tallow was unchanged. We quote:— Wool.—Crossbred, medium, 122 d to 13|d; coarse, 10{d to Hid; crutehings, medium, Bid to short and seedy, 6id to 7|d; pieces, 6£d to 8d; dead, 9d to 9*l d. Sheepskins.—Crossbred, fine, 13d; medium, Hid to 12d; coarse, 9|d to 10id; i to i-wools, 10|d to lid; dead, 74d to 9<d; damaged, 74d to 9gd; lambs, Hid to 124 d; salted skins, 5s lid to 7s lid each; pelts, 3s 9d each. Hides—Ox medium, 9 7-8 d; light, 8d to Bjd; cow, heavy, Bjd; medium, 8d; light, 8d to B|d; cut and inferior 6 l-8d to 74d; badly damaged, 4d to 4i; yearlings, 84d to Bid. THE WANGANUI SALE The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Company, Limited, report having held a sale on Wednesday, when they offered a fair sized catalogue to a very good attendance of buyers. The bidding was very keen for all lines submitted. Values for sheepskins were much on a par with last sale’s rates, with the exception of salteds, which were very keenly competed for at advanced prices. Hides sold particularly well. Prices for heavy were not quite as good as last sale rates, but light weights advanced from id to Id per lb.
