NEARING A CLIMAX
THE LABOUR SPLIT MR LANG’S POSITION (A. & N.Z.) SYDNEY, May 20. In connection with the State Labour Split the Conroy faction contends that Mr Lang, by taking the platform in support of Mr O’Gorman for the Warringah by-election against the selected Labour candidate, Mr Conway, has automatically expelled himself from the movement in accordance with the rules of the party. Mr Lang maintains that the Seale faction is the constitutional body, and therefore he has not expelled himself. Mr Theodore speaking in support of Mr Conway, said that if a breakaway Labour party were formed in New South Wales, those associated with it would have to be dealt with ruthlessly for the sake of the welfare of the movement. He said that there were some people with overweening pride, people who occupied positions, and who thought they were the whole movement. He predicted that the time would come, probably very shortly, when they would have to deal with the situation with gloves off.
