SWANKERS’ APPEAL BALL
The Kakatahi settlers held a very successful plain and fancy-dress bad last Saturday in the Otoho Pah, in. aid of the Swankers’ Appeal Fund. VaudeVillian’s Dance Orchestra supplied the excellent music. The succors ol the evening was due to the untiring efforts of the following committee: —Mcsdanios W. Glenn, M. Henry, W. Taylor, I. Robertson. Misses E. Henry, IL Newrick, Messrs. W. Glenn, M. P. Henry. B. Delves, E. Whiteman. B. Ncwrick. W. W. Taylor, Jack O’Neill and D. Ashford.
The prizes for fancy costume wore awarded to: Ist., G. Barnes and friend; 2nd., Misses Ncwrick. Over 150 guests were present, amongst them being: Alesdamos F. Robinson, pearl grey crepe morocain; M. Henry, Maori; S. Cass, black crepe de chine and fringe; Misses N. Halligan, pink taffeta and gold not; Z. Blair, black velvet; IL Ncwrick, powder and patch gentleman: A. Hill, coffee lace and primrose sat ; n; R. Taylor, silver lace and red georgette; E. Henry, Hawaiian girl; Prior. French periot; M. Newrich, powder and patch lady; Signal, fortune-teller; Griffiths, yellow perriot; Taylor, Canadian cowgirl; Taylor, French artist; E. Nettie, Hawaiian girl; Messrs. S. Robinson. F. Webb, B. Newrich, Delves (2), C. Burnett, B. Huntley, J. Rennick, baby; Swan. Swankor secretary; Boyd, S. Cass, I). McDonald, Henry, Wilkie, T. Love-
