THE DOVE
NORMA TALMADGE’S COLOURFUL BOLE. Norma Talmadge has started work on “The Dove,” her first picture for Allied Artists release. The day before she had completed her work in “Camille.” The one day interval between these two productions marked the shortest “between pictures” vacation the star has had since she first faced the camera at the age of 14. “The Dove,” a play by Willard Mack, was first produced by David Belasco, with Holbrook Blinn and Judith Anderson, who is playing in Sydney now, in the leading roles. In the screen version. Miss Talmadge will act the part of “Dolores Romero.” “The Dove” will be directed by Ronald West, director of “The Bat,” an associate producer in the Joseph M. Schenck organisation.
The supporting cast includes Gilbert Roland, who also appears as “Armand Duval” with Miss Talmadge in “Camille,” Noah Beery of “Beau Geste” fame, and Michael Vavith, of the Moscow Art Musical Studio. The screen version of “The Dove” is laid in a mythical semi-tropical land. Against this colourful background the story of the dance-hall girl gives Miss Talmadge one of the most dramatic and vivid roles in her career.
