NEW WAGES CLAIMS CONCILIATION COUNCIL SITTING. [Per Press Association.] WELLINGTON, May 19. The Conciliation Council is sitting in the dispute of the New Zealand Federated Shop Assistants’ Union, Mr Hally presiding. The employees ask £5 10s for male asssitants and £3 15s for female assistants. The employers offer £4 15s and £2 12s 6d. In the case of storemen £5 5s is asked by the Union and £4 is suggested by the employers. The employees ask that the wages of branch managers should range from £8 10s and departmental managers from £6 10s to £B.
