Messrs Johnston and Company report that transhipments for the liners Tongariro and Rotorua have been lifted at Wanganui this week by the vessels Inaha and Kapuni. The new motor ship Brand has been chartered to load sulphur at Galveston, Texas, for New Zealand. The Shaw, Savill and Albion steamer Maimoa is reported to have cleared Teneriffe last Friday in continuation of her voyage from New Zealand to London. She was despatched from Port Chalmers on April 3. The steamer Baron Ruthven completed unloading sugar at Auckland on Saturday morning and sailed for Nauru Island to load phosphates for Australia. The steamer Persian Prince is due at Auckland on Sunday next. May 22, from Texas. She left Port Arthur on April 17 for Auckland, and after discharging part of her cargo of sulphur at Auckland proceeds to Lyttelten, New Plymouth and Wanganui to complete her discharge.

Officials of the Nippon Yusen Kaisha at San Francisco have been advised that construction of the hulls of the three new motor liners planned for the San Francisco-Oriental service, is being rushed in order to have the ships completed for service in the beginning of 1929.
