AT OXFORD
FRENCH STATESMEN DEGREE CONFERRED ON PRESIDENT. (A. and N.Z.) LONDON, May 17. Oxford University to-day honoured M. Doumergue, the French President, and M. Briand, the French Foreign Minister. The French statesmen went from London by motor-car in order to see the beauties of the English countryside. As they drove through Oxford to All Souls’ College they received a rousing greetings from men and girl undergraduates. After lunching at All Souls’ College with the University representatives, the President and M. Briand were, escorted to the Sheldonian Theatre, where the degree of Doctor of Civil Law was conferred by diploma on the President.
