ECONOMIC CONFERENCE
COMMITTEE AT WORK PLENARY SESSION ON MONDAY. Received May 18, 9.20 p.m. (A. & N.Z.) GENEVA, May 17. The Economic Conference has reached a stage when it is almost impossible to state exactly what has been accomplished. Most of the committees are in the finishing stage, and many resolutions before the drafting will come up for final approval before submitting them to the plenary session of the Conference on Monday. The Conference committee to-day adopted a resolution to the- effect that the time will come to put an end to increased tariff, and that nations should forthwith remove these barriers which unduly hamper trade, starting with those to counteract disturbances arising out of the war. The British Dominions’ interests are being vigilantly watched and it is considered that they are fully safeguarded.
