GENERAL NEWS. f From the “ Chronicle’* ” Special Correspondent. ] Tuesday will be a day long remembered by the residents of Taihape and the surrounding districts. It is doubtful if a larger crowd has ever congregated than that at the Soldiers’ Memorial unveiling. Mr. T. Shute, one of Taihape’s oldest residents, who left some years ago to live at Hastings, was in town yesterday. At the Court two first offenders for drunkenness were yesterday morning brought before Mr. L. Daws, J.P., and fined £1 each, the amount of their bail.
