DOWN A BANK
CAR’S FATAL DASH DRIVER DIES IN HOSPITAL [Per Press Association.] WHANGAREI, May 18. A road accident resulting in the death of a motor car driver occurred at 4.30 on Monday afternoon between Kaco and Whangaroa. A five-seater car, driven by Mr Julian Shepherd, of Whangaroa, and containing two passengers, was rounding a bend in the road when it encountered a lorry driven by Mr Scott, of Kaco. In attempting to pass, the car ran off the road and leaped down a bank 14ft, turning over and landing on its wheels again. The driver, wtio suffered severe head and body injuries never recovered consciousness and died an hour or two after admission to the Whangaroa Hospital. Mr William Moselem sustained head injuries but soon recovered consciousness and is now in bed at his home at Whangaroa. The third occupant of the ear. a lady doctor, was not seriously injured, though she received a severe shock.
