MARIST CLUB ALL GRADES PRACTICE A practice for all grades will be hold at St. Joseph’s Hall (opposite Harman’s Garage) this evening at 7.30 p.m. Mr F. C. Atkinson, of the Referees’ Association, will be in attendance to lecture on rulings of the code and a full muster of players is essential. SYDNEY’S WELCOME NEW ZEALAND VARSITY FOOTBALLERS STRONG OPPOSITION EXPECTED SYDNEY, May 17. The University footballers arrived in two contingents by the Maunganui and Marma. They state that they are in first class condition. They practised during the afternoon on the University ground. which will be available to them during their vjsit. Replying to the welcome extended to the team by the New South Wales Rugby Union, Professor Boyd Wilson said that the Soccer code was making great headway in New Zealand owing to the influx of English migrants. He expressed the opinion, however, that it would never replace the older game, and hoped* that the present visit would help the cause of the Rugby Union code in Sydney. The President of Sydney University Football Club stated that the Sydney team this year was the best since the war.
