FOOTBALL [ From the " Chronicle’s ” Special Correspondent. ] A committee meeting of the Football Club was held on Monday evening. Present: Dr. Mitchell (chair), R. Simpson, C. Bo wick, 11. Fox, T. Brunton, W. Smith, P, Finn and G. Shanley. A letter was received from the Manawatu Football Association notifying that a seven-a-side tournament will be playeid at Palmerston North on June 3. Received. A gold medal was presented to the seniors by Mr A. T. Gattrell, it was left to the discretion of the medal committee to decide in what way the medal should be won. A vote of thanks was accented Mr Gattrell for his donation. The medals committee decided that the previous medals presented should be won by the best tackler, back or forward, and most improved player. There are two me?!als for each grade, senior, junior and thirds. The following letter was received from the Rangitikei Sub-Union; “Regulations governing injured players— The management committee shall have the administration of the fund and at its first meeting each season may appoint a sub-committee of three idjelegates to deal with all claims and make all inquries. (2) The fund shall consist of the following: (a) existing accident fund; (b) a surcharge of three pence on all one shilling tickets for admission to club matches; (c) registered players and referee’s subscriptons each season: Senior, junior and referee’s 2/6; thirds 1/6; (id.) such other contributions as tnc management committee may from time to time make from Sub-Union funds; (e) the management committee shall have power from time to time to set aside to a reserve fund such part of the injured players fund as it thinks fit; (f) claims shall be limited to the reasonable medical, dental, and public hospital expenses incurred in respect of injuries receive?! during the actual playing of any match directly under the control of the Suh-Union including representative games; (g) subject to the

fund after deduction of the amount placed to reserve being adequate to meet all approved claims for any oni” season such claims shall be paid in full but otherwise shall be »!ealt with pro rata at the close of the current season or as soon as possible thereafter; (h) no claim will be entertained unless at the time of the accident the injured players or referee’s subscription shall have previously been paid, only financial members of their respective clubs are eligible, all players desiring to become registered under this scheme shall pay their subscription to the secretary of their respective clubs and such secretary shall forthwith pay such subscription to the treasurer and at the same time declare which players are to be covered and if they are financial or not with their clubs; (i) report of injury must be lodged with the, secretary of the Sub-Union within seven days from date of injury. The injury in respect of which claim is made must be wholly and solely incurred in a match !as aforesaid. The final claim must be I accompanied by a doctor’s certificate indicating clearly the nature of the injury and the probable duration of incapacity, claimant shall supply such further information as may be requred by the Sub-Union.” Committee meetings in future will be held fortnightly instead of weekly.
