SO THE TRAIN WAITED TABLET PORTER HOLDS EXPRESS UP. (Special to “Chronicle.”)' AUCKLAND, May 17. Through the chill of the early morn ing the first express from Wellingtoi steamed toward Auckland. She wa due at *6.41 o’clock, according to th« timetable, and the passengers rouscc themselves at Frankton Junction, dranl their tea and then settled down for another nap before reaching Auckland, which they expected to reach in a few hours’ time. Thon the train stopped. The sleepers roused themselves and wondered what it was all about. They thought of hold-ups an<l breakdowns and othci distressing occurrences, but they did not know that tho tablet porter was fast asleep in his cosy bed, and the train could not proceed until he had been roused. That is why the first express from Wellington was lato in reaching Auckland this morning.
