900 th ANNIVERSARY
WILLIAM THE CONQUEROR - COMING NORMAN CELEBRATIONS PARIS, April 20. I Preparations arc being made in Normandy for the celebration during the coming summer of the 900th anniversary of the birth of William the Conz queror. The principal celebration will take place on July 3 and 4 at Falaise and ■ is to be attended by many members of ! the British aristocracy who claim to | descend from the Conqueror’s compan-1 , ions-in-arms. It will begin with a reception by the j municipality, a religious service con- i ducted by the Bishop of Bayeux, and / a great banquet, after which there will i be a procession of historical charac-) ters through the town to the Chateau | of Falaise, where the Conqueror, surrounded by members of his court, will hold a “cour d’amour,” with trouba-, dours, dancers, and jugglers. The Fa- . laise ceremonies will end with a torch- j I light fete and a firework display. ' l A celebration on somewhat similar j II lines will take place at Rouen on July 1 6 and 7. 1
