THREE FIRES
CHRISTCHURCH OUTBREAKS HOUSE AND STORE DAMAGED. [Per Press Association.] CHRISTCHURCH May 16. Early yesterday morning'the Christ* church Fire Brigade answered three calls in six hours. At 2.12 a.m. they were called to a fire in a five-roomed house in River Road, owned by John Wigg and occupied by P. J. Vincent. The fire originated in the dining-room, the contents of which were totally destroyed. Other parts of tho house suffered through smoke and water. Tho contents of the House were insured for £7OO in the Victoria Insurance Co. Twenty minutes later the brigade were called to a brick store in Tuam 'Street occupied by George Cowan and owned by Miss A. Lane. The stock, which was considerably damaged, was insured for £.150 in the Alliance Office, and tho building for £450 in the National Insurance Co. At 8.50 an outbreak occurred in a five-roomed house at Merivale. The Brigade quelled this fire before serious damage could occur.
