Mr and Mrs Garfath have returned to Wanganui from a visit to Napier.

The Rt. Hon. J. G. Coates, Prime Minister, is spending this week in his electorate, Kaipara. He delivered a policy speech at Dargaville last night.

Mr IL A. Kenner, who for seven years has held the position of secretary to the Y.M.C.A. in Christchurch, has resigned. He will be succeeded by Mr A. J. McEldowney, secretary of the Wanganui branch of the association.

Mr and Mrs H. C. Morgan have returned to New Plymouth after a trip up the Wanganui River. Visitors who attended the Wanganui Rotary Club luncheon yesterday were Messrs M. Silver (Prisons Department, Wellington, A. Mummery (Aramoho), Corbridgo (Palmerston North), and Captain Jones (s.s. Forcric).

The late Thaaka Whaanga was buried at Nuhaka in the presence of the largest gathering ever seen there, reports the Press Association. The funeral was a full military one, by direction of the Government a firing party being provided by the old Maori Pioneer Battalion. Every local body and sports organisation was represented, and natives from all parts of the North Island were present.
