The Invercargill arrived from Wellington | yesterday. GENERAL NEWS. The Shaw, Savill and Albion liner Corinthic, which left London, on April 21, sailed from Balboa on Wednesday. She will go first to Wellington and then come to Auckland. The Commonwealth and Dominion Line a steamer Port Auckland is due at New Plymouth on May 24 and is expected to reach Auckland on May 30. She will sail finally from New Zealand from Wanganui on June 16. The City of Khartoum, which left New York on April 28 for New Zealand, cleared Panama on Wednesday. She is due at Auckland on May and will afterwards go to W ’lington., Lyttelton, Timaru, Dunedin, Bluff and Beauty Point. To continue loading cargo for England., the | Shaw, Savill and Albion Line s steamer Raranga left Auckland for Napier on Thursday. The length of the voyage from the Lizard to Adelaide was 13,422 miles, which means that the vessel made an average speed of 8.3 miles per hour. The highest speed logged on the voyage was 15 miles per hour. Speaking at a luncheon on board the Royal Mail Steam Packet Company’s new motor liner Alcantara, Mr. P. Mitchell., the general manager, mentioned that, taking into account vessels under construction, the companies controlled by Lord Kylsant now owqed nearly 60 , Diesel-driven vessels, with an aggregate tonnage of close upon 350,000.
