BACKED TOO FAR
TRAILER’S PLUNGE DRAGS TRACTOR INTO HARBOUR. [Per Press Association.] WELLINGTON, May 14. One of the Harbour Board’s tractors, with a trailer attached, while tipping spoil in the vicinity of the new Burnham wharf at Miramar to-day, backed too far and fell into the harbour. The tractor and trailer disappeared in 30 feet of water, but the driver, Richard Linden, was thrown clear of the tractor with half the steering wheel in his hand, and fell on to the sloping bank. He managed to avoid falling into the water, but was badly shaken and suffered minor bruises.
