DISPLAY AT SANDON SUCCESSFUL CHRYSANTHEMUM SHOW I From the " Chronic!*'■ ” Special Correspondent. ] The annual Chrysanthemum Show’ held under the auspices of the Methodist Church Ladies’ Guild at Sandon on Thursday was in every way a most successful function. The exhibit of blooms from a wide area all helped to make a very fine show. In the open class for amateur exhibitors Mr Mandeno (Wanganui) was the most successful and secured the Rose Bowl for the year. The show of chrysanthemums for Sandon and district growers was better than last year and in this class Mr Alan Henson secured the trophy for points prize. The secretarial duties in connection with the gathering were in the hands of Mrs G. Neal, assistance being given by the Rev. Neal. The judges for the various sections were: Mrs Drew (cookery), Mrs Barltrop (dectorative), Messrs G-ibson and Shailer (blooms and vegetables). A sewing stall in charge of Mesdames J. Henson and H. Fagan, sweets being in the care of Airs LeroyHenson and produce in charge of Mrs E. Bowater, all appeared to be doing good business. Luncheon and afternoon tea was under the control of Mrs W. E. Pearce and an active staff of helpers. In the evening Musical items were rendered by Airs W. E. Pearce and Alias Nancy’ Fagan. A nail driving competition was won by Stan Gray.
