TAWHERO SCHOOL

' SALE OF WORK AND PRODUCE On Saturday afternoon the children of the Tawhero school, assisted by parents and friends, held a very successful effort in the school. Many had worked hard and the stalls were well filled. The tea room was well patronised and all the stalls did good business. The winners of the competitions were: Iced cake, Robert Healey; doll and cradle, Mullie Mullins; small doll, Imelda Greenlas; treasure hunt, Robert i Healey. During the afternoon Mr W. A. Colj ling, chairman of the Education Board 1 and Mr Hodge, the Board’s architect, ' visited the school and Mr Collins offii eially unfurled the flag from the new I staff presented by Mr Hodge. Mr Collins gave a very interesting speech on the flag and what it meant to Britishers. The sale was most successful, over £2O being taken.
