He said that he was particularly pleased to seo that the Association was looking after the younger players. Mr Varney, chairman of the Council, in moving the adoption of the report, said that they were gradually securing a footing n the schools. There was also a steady influx of immigrants, adding to the interest in the game. Soccer was becoming world renowned so far as tho sport was concerned, and soon it would be used as a means for improving the relationship between nations. It was felt that visits overseas would do more than anything else to bring the game prominently before the public. Mr. Varney added that the past year had been a strenuous one. Negotiations in regard to possible tours had been carried out with Scotland. Uruguay, Canada, Australia, and America. It was hoped that, at no distant date, they would be able to arrange for a conference of delegates from Australia, New Zealand, Canada, and South Africa, in order that a plan of tours might be arranged.

It was felt that the visits of overseas teams would do more to bring the game prominently before the public than anything else, the chairman continued. A proposal had been made that a team of Australian schoolboys should be invited to visit New Zealand and advice had been received that the boys to be sent would be under fifteen years of age. At present., prospects of such a visit taking place were excellent. The. council was also hopeful that it would be possible for New Zealand to l be represented at the Olympic Games at | Los Angeles in 1932. Referring to the English Trophy and ! Chatham Cup competitions, Mr. Varney said he was sure that these competitions ■ were going to play a big part in improving the standard of play. Office-bearers were elected as follow: Patron, the Governor; president, Sir C. P. Skerrctt, Chief Justice; the Hon. J. Mclntyre and Messrs G. W. Bagrie and T. A. McLaren were added to the vicepresidents; council, Messrs Varney, F. Campbell, F. Sanders, 11. L. Godber, B. L. Salmon, J. A. Milburn, A. J. Hyder, A. Renai, W. G. Bryce; treasurer, Mr Greaves; auditor. Air N. McFarlane; representative on the Football Association, Mr A. E. Gibbs; representative in Canada and United States, Mr H. N. Holmes.

It was carried that the New Zealand Council consider an alteration of the Chatham Cup rules so that teams playing in tho final and semi-final will receive the expenses incurred in full; that tho interprovincial schools’ competition as run in the past two seasons bo discontinued, and in lieu thereof the competition bo played up to the semifinal in each island, the final being alternately played In the North and South Islands. In the event of any association, union, or league player, or official member or spectator of any kindred sport in New Zealand being disqualified, it shall not be lawful for any association affiliated to the Council to admit such union, etc., without special permission.
