THE SEASON’S PROSPECTS GOOD COMPETITION LAXPECTED. Prospects for the 1927 season are bright and judging by the number of teams entered the stick game is making rapid progress in Wanganui. The entries received so far are: Senior Men.—Hinemoa, St. Andrews, Wesley, Old Boys. Junior Men.—Same as seniors. iLadies’ Senior.—Wesley Old Girls (two teams), Wangaehu, Tiki, Aramoho Old Girls. Ladies’ Junior.—Wesley (two teams), Old Girls, Aramoho Old Girls. There is a possibility of these being added to, as entries do not close until Saturday. An endeavour is to be made to comimence a school girls’ competition, and 'probably five or six schools will take j part in this. 1 The selectors for the 1927 season arc j—Men’s: hfessrs A. O. Cave, Rev. H. Goring and W. P. Tarr. Ladies: Misses D. Hall and D. Perrett. The men’s teams appear to be of more even strength than was the case last year. Hinemoa, the “old-timers’ ’’ team, have introduced some new blood and will probably be favourites for the cup. Some are enthusiastic over the prospects of this club’s junior eleven. Old Boys are the dark horses of the competition. Some of last year’s memibe.rs have been lost, but it is rumoured |that among the new players are one or two who will make things move. I St. Andrew’s have lost the best of past year’s backs, but with their good forward line intart and a number of enthusiastic promoted juniors, they should hold their own again. | Wesley is a much strengthened team .and the blacks are bound to have benefited by their season in senior ranks.
