CLAIM THAT FAILED
BAKER’S DISMISSAL PARTNER OR EMPLOYEE? His summary dismissal from a post as a baker employed by P. W. Phillips (Mr J. M. Hussey) impelled Ernest Theodore Young (Mr F. F. Wills) to claim £l9 10s, for wages and sundries, allegedly due, from his former employer at the Wanganui Magistrate’s Court yesterday. Giving evidence, plaintiff said he was l dismissed on October 16. No previous j hint of the dismissal had been given [him. He worked in the morning and went off in the afternoon. Phillips offered him £6 in settlement, but he declined to accept it. There was other money due, as well as wages. In his cross-examination Mr Hussey asked witness if he did not inform several business and professional men that he was a partner in the concern. Witness denied that he ever made such a suggestion, or acted in such a manner that it might have been inferred he was a partner. After hearing evidence by G. S. Simpson, produce merchant, who said Young told him ho was in the business on a fifty-fifty basis, the Magistrate said he did not wish to hear more.
