QUITE HAPPY
WITH PRINCE CAROL MADAME LUPESCU’S STORY AN EVIL MINDED WORLD jßy Telesrraph—Per Press Assn.—Copyright.] LONDON, March 6. Lady Drummond Hay, writing in tne ‘‘Daily Express,” has an account of an interview with Madame Lupescu, who is living quitely in a pretty two-storied villa in the outskirts of Paris witli Prince Carol. She said: "I have not dragged Carol from the throne and I am not holding him back. He has not renounced the throne because of me, as the world is falsely told. I am neither a siren, Circe nor a vampire, but merely a loyar friend and no obstacle to Carol’s allegiance to his duty. I did not run away with him. I met him by accident at Milan, where he was unhappy and lonely and surrounded by enemies. I fert unashamed of my friendship <and (fid not hesitate to accompany him in Ins hour of need. Perhaps T was impetuous and forgetful of the evil-minded world. Our’s is no vulgar affair. Carol neeced and still needs a friend. Therefore, 1 stay and, as far as I know at present, will remain here, where I am very happy. ‘‘We never go to Paris, Carol is no reveller, despite his terribly dashfhg reputation. .He docs not drink and really not half as romantic as he is made out. He is just a gentleman, but because he is a King’s son and heir vo the throne he is subject to wonderfully untrue tales. We lead the quietest of lives imaginable, and intend going »-n similarly if we can be loft alone. Why should we care? We don’t. ’ ’
