THE KAIERAU CLUB REPORT ON 1926 SEASON. The following is the 36th annual report to be presented at the Kaierau Football Club’s annual meeting to be held in the Jockey’s Club’s rooms, at 8 p.m. on Wednesday, Alarch 8: Season’s Record.—Whilst not so successful as the preceding season, the record is very creditable, as will be readily observed from the following:— Seniors.—Won seven-a-sido tournament and fifteen miniature cups for the third round competition (undefeated). Runners-up to Pirates for championship, being defeated by one point, and drawing with the same doughty opponents for the Charity Cup. Juniors.—Conseqpent on five promotions to senior rank, the juniors were fortunate in keeping their engagements without withdrawing from the competition. Every endeavour will have to be macle to improve the position for the coming season. Thirds.—Performed very creditably in what is doubtless the most difficult grade to win, by acting as runners-up. Fourths.—Composed of practically a now team, splendid form was shown, enabling the team to occupy a similar position to tho thirds. Fifths.—Thanks to the efforts of Air C. Booth, a team was nominated, and though the players were younger and considerably lighter than their opponents the team was placed fourth. The manner in which these boys trained and kept together should prove an object lesson to all club members. With one or two exceptions members are to be congratulated on the manner in which training operations were carried out. Outside Afatches.—Kaierau were successful against Oriental by 18—6 in a hard fought game played on the local Rec. An enjoyable game was also played against Wangaehu at the beginning of the season, the Maroons winning by 14—0. Two teams were entered for the Rangitikei seven-a-side but the A team, after playing two extra spells, was defeated by the ultimate winners (Rata). The third grade team played home and home matches with New Plymouth Stars, honours proving even. Coaches—Great credit is due to tho coaches who were untiring in the attention to their respective teams. Your committee desires to place on record its appreciation of the services rendered by the following gentlemen:—Messrs A. Takarangi, H. W. Whiting, R. Hoskings, H. Alurray and C. Booth. Finance.—Owing to the lavish treatment of the annual dance, thereby resulting in a substantial loss, a debit is shown on the season’s working. A number of items, however, are not of a recurring nature, and the financial outlook is bright. Membership.—lo 9 active and 12 honorary. Five teams were maintained during the season, and with the exception of the juniors (once) all engagements were met. A fifth grade team was also entered. A recommendation is to be made that a large number of the vice-pre-sidents should be elected life members, and so enable local residents to fill their places on the executive. Reps.—Your committee desire to congratulate the following players who received representative honours:—Senior: Messrs F. Boulton, V. Brookie, E. Coulston, J. Johnston, J. Lockett, G. Lockett, D. Ross, L. Stewart and W. Titter. Junior: Afessrs Parkes, Barclay and Webb. Third: Afessrs Glasgow, Morgan and Titter. Fourth: Afessrs Clark, Lang, AlcKinnon and Purnell. Fifth: Lazarus.

The club records its appreciation of the many courtsies extended to it by the Press, Referees’ Association, St. John’s Ambulance and the Defence Department. Rugby Union.—The Rugby Union and more particularly the organisers are deserving of the greatest credit for the success achieved by the art union, and the ultimate benefit that will accrue in remodelling Spriggins Park (a well deserved honour to Mr Spriggins). The parent body is also to be congratulated on the inauguration of the old-timers’ function at the end of the season, and the hope is expressed that it will become an annual function. Your committee desires to record its appreciation of the. new insurance scheme and tender to the persons responsible the grateful acknowledgment of all players. Annual Presentation of Trophies.— Thanks to the untiring work of the ladies’ committee (Alesdames Afoye, Nolan, Alorgan, Dustin, Hall, Aitcheson, James and Hoskings, and Afiss Whiteford) the annual function was an unqualified success. Neither money nor labour was stinted and it was only on account of the counter attractions that was responsible for the loss. The trophies wore presented by Afr Afoye to the following:—Seniors: Afessrs Titter and Brookie. Juniors: Afessrs Parkes and Barclay. Thirds: Messrs Raynor and Glasgow. Fourths: Messrs Clark and Purnell. Fifths: Messrs Skelsy and Smith. Gymnasium: Mr A. Dempsey.

A cordial invitation is extended to supporters and new members.
