Jackson, of Feilding, has promised a gold mounted riding whip to the rider of the winner of the Afarton Cup of .1928. The first of a series of weekly euchre parties and dances, under the auspices :of the Railway Social Club, was held I in the Social Hall on Friday night. Mrs J, Hart won the ladies’ prize and Air ;W. Emmerson, and totally destroyed the building and about 15 tons of hay. CRICKET. POREWA v. COLTS Colts and Porewa met at the Cricket Ground on Saturday, the latter team winning by 89 runs For their victory Porewa had to thank D. A. Cameron, who compiled 96. Colts failed badly and showed that after the first four batsmen are disposed of very little opposition remains. Watts took a team to Huntley on Saturday and the visitors beat the 1 school team by six wickets and 13 runs. Huntley batted first and scored 89, R. Marshall (34), N. Frehner (25) and Harding (20) being the only batsmen to reach double figures. Watts’ XI compiled 102 for four wickets and declared.
