BRITAIN’S AIR FORCES
REDUCED ESTIMATES DEVELOPMENT OF LONG DISTANCE ROUTES. Received March 6, 5.5 p.m. LONDON, March 5. The Air Estimates amount to £15,550,000, a reduction of £450,000 on last year’s. Sir Samuel Hoare, in an accompanying memorandum, attaches great importance to the development of long distance routes, such as the impending flight of hydroplanes to Australia, which he says are essential to the effective employment of the air arm. The Imperial Defence Estimates provide £300.000 for establishing landings and fuel bases for these experimental flights.
