One of these is “The Girl From Montmartre," which commences a three day’s engagement at the Grand Theatre to-day and to-night. Based on Anthony Prydc’s best seller, “Spanish Sunlight," the picture is animated with more life than even the book. It is a vibrant, fragrant, and tender recital of love in the Balearic Isles. Barbara Im Marr, cast as a dancing girl who has tasted life’s dregs m the shadows of Montmartc, brink's to her impersonation intense ardar. Lewis Stone’s performance as her lover is impeccable and the supporting cast is capable. The supporting attraction will bo “The Isle of Retribution," a splendid story of Alaska featuring Lillian Rich and Robert Frazer. The plan is open at the Grand Theatre office tor the season.

THE WANGANUI PIERROTS The Wanganui Pierrots company of artists gave their initial performance on Saturday in the new hall at Fordell oefore a very appreciative audience whoso continued calls for further encores were unfortunately not responded to, owing to time not permitting. The show was bright and sparkling in music and comedy and the straight numbers exemplified the vocal powers and musical ability of the artists concerned. The company which was formed by Mr Basil Dean, who as director of the Pierrots is happy in the knowledge of so much clever and willing talent at his disposal, is comprised of the following local artists: The Lyric, Four (Messrs G. Williamson, T. Sperring, Trevor Thomas and F. Campbell), Mrs T. Sperring, Miss E. Webb-Joncs, Mr F. Crotty and Mr Basil Dean. The accompanying is in the hands of Mrs T. Thomas. Concerteds by the Lyric Four,, Doubles by Airs T. Sperring’ and Mr Basil Dean and Messrs Dean and Crotty as “Willy and Wally" (afT comedy numbers) wore thoroughly appreciated by the audience, and Miss E. Webb-Jones captivated the audience with her charming singing. Miss WebbJones leaves Wanganui to-day for Sydney, and it is the company’s hope that she will return f.-om her further studies to link up again with the Wanganui Pierrots. After the performance Miss WebbJones was given a farewell by individual members of the company.
